unforgettable

The cake has been cut, many toasts have been made and everyone has had a boogie on the dance floor β€” now it’s time for your final send-off. It doesn't take much planning to have a memorable wedding exit. Here are some fun ideas for you to consider.

SPECIAL TIP: BEFORE YOU MAKE ANY PURCHASES, ALWAYS CLEAR YOUR WEDDING EXIT IDEAS WITH YOUR VENUE FIRST.

01. EXIT BY CANDLELIGHT

Light the venue exit with romantic pillar candles and enjoy the beautiful view on your way out. It would be a good idea to ask your wedding venue if they are able to set this up for you discretely right before your grand exit. You could ask some of your friends and family to hold candles as well.

I found some gorgeous options for hire at Hire & Co. Or if you prefer to purchase your own, IKEA have lots of different sizes and options.

02. POP SOME CONFETTI

A post-reception petal toss is a pretty and festive way to say farewell to your friends and family.

I found these cool eco-friendly Petal confetti Poppers on Etsy which double as wedding favours, winning! These Confetti Pouches are beautiful as well.

03. GLAMOROUS GOODBYE

Make a glamorous exit while your guests toss oversized glitter in the air. Why oversized? It will show up better in your wedding video and photos.

Check out this company, Glitter Haven (based in Australia). They sell biodegradable glitter that will disappear the next time it rains. I like this gold option, but they have lots of different colours and sizes to suit your style.

04. GIANT BALLOONS

These giant white MR and MRS balloons are the perfect prop for your wedding exit. To make things even more memorable, you could ask a few trusted friends and family (the sober ones, preferably) to hold up smaller white helium balloons as you say goodbye to your guests.

IMPORTANT TIP: I DO NOT RECOMMEND RELEASING BALLOONS INTO THE AIR. EVEN IF THE BALLOONS CLAIM TO BE BIODEGRADABLE, SUSTAINABILITY VICTORIA SAYS THAT NO BALLOONS ARE FULLY BIODEGRADABLE AND ARE AMONG THE TOP THREE MOST HARMFUL POLLUTANTS THREATENING MARINE WILDLIFE.

05. SPARKLER EXIT

The most popular exit trend nowadays would have to be using sparklers. It looks absolutely beautiful on film. Walking through sparklers is an affordable but memorable way to whimsically say your goodbyes. Mixing drunk people and fire is a scary thought. Reach out to your photographer or videographer for advice on this one.

I found these long sparklers on Ebay that will do the trick.

SPECIAL TIP: MAKE SURE YOU PURCHASE THE LONGEST SPARKLERS YOU CAN FIND. THE REGULAR SIZED SPARKLERS BURN OUT VERY FAST, AND BY THE TIME YOU HAVE WALKED HALF WAY THROUGH, THE START OF THE LINE MAY HAVE ALREADY BURNED OUT.
